      <p><font size="-1">MPLAB PM3 should <b>NOT</b> be plugged into a
USB port,
powered, or have a device plugged into it at this time.<br>

have already preinstalled the drivers during MPLAB IDE installation,
read this section and then jump to Step 4. Otherwise follow all
instructions.</font></font></font></li>

into
the USB port and
the "Found New Hardware Wizard" has popped up, click Cancel on that
dialog,
unplug the MPLAB PM3 and continue with these instructions<font

tool(s) for which you wish to install device drivers under "Tool Device

the <b>Pre-Install</b>

The status log will show you the status of the pre-install. If you have
problems, you may want to save this information to a file so you may
refer
to it when you contact customer support. Click the <b>Save Log</b>
button

pre-install, a dialog may pop up stating, "The software you are
installing
for this hardware: <i>Microchip Development Tool</i> has not passed
Windows
Logo testing..." In this case, <i>Microchip Development Tool</i> will
be
"Microchip MPLAB PM3 Firmware Client". Click "Continue Anyway".</font></font></font>

      <p><font face="timesroman"><font color="#000000"><font size="-1">Click
the <b>Close</b>
button on the preinstaller/updater utility when done.</font></font></font></p>

MPLAB PM3 to the PC with a USB cable. Then, connect the power supply
and
turn on the unit. Do not insert a device into any sockets modules on
MPLAB
PM3 at this time.</font></font></font> </p>
      <p><font size="-1">If you are using an external USB HUB, make
sure it has
a power supply and is powered or MPLAB PM3 will not work.</font></p>

you have
service pack 2, the first time a new USB device is plugged into a
Windows
XP system, this dialog box will appear indicating that the system has
found
a new hardware device and asking you whether or not to search for
update
software. Select "No, not this time".&nbsp; Click "Next" and continue
with
the steps below.</font></font></font></p>

time a new USB device is plugged in, a small dialog box will appear
indicating
that the system has found a new hardware device. There also may be a
dialog
box that informs the user that a device data base is being built or
updated.</font></font></font> </p>

these
dialogs appear, the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box&nbsp; is
displayed.
Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click
"Next"
to continue the installation.</font></font></font><font

      <p><font face="timesroman"><font color="#000000"><font size="-1"><b>Note:</b>
If you are running <b>Windows 2000</b>, you may not see this or the
next
dialog. Instead, the system will automatically install the software
without
asking you. This is OK. Proceed to Step 8.</font></font></font></p>

the Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear once the Microchip MPLAB PM3
Firmware Client has been installed. Click "Finish" to end the USB

open
the Device Manager window, click Start&gt;Settings&gt;Control Panel. In
Contorl
Panel, double click System. In System Properties, Hardware tab, click <b>Device
