 size="-1">If you
have already preinstalled the drivers during MPLAB IDE installation,
read this section and then jump to Step 4. Otherwise follow all

        <li><font size="-1">If you have already plugged the
converter
into the USB port
and the "Found New Hardware Wizard" has popped up, click <b>Cancel</b>
on that dialog, unplug the converter and continue with these

converter&nbsp;
into the USB port
and used the&nbsp; "Found New Hardware Wizard" to install drivers
automatically,
you have installed the wrong drivers. Follow the instructions specified
in C:\Program Files\Microchip\MPLAB IDE\ICE 2000\Drivers\<font

      <span style="font-weight: bold;">Note:</span> You must have
purchased the Microchip MPLAB ICE 2000 USB Converter (ACICE0108) to use
USB with
the MPLAB ICE 2000 emulator.&nbsp; (There is no built-in USB capability
on the emulator.) The converter is <span style="font-weight: bold;">not</span>
a standard USB-to-parallel converter, but one specifically designed for
the emulator.<br>

tool(s) for which you wish to install device drivers under "Tool Device

radio button "Pre-install" under "Action".</font></font></font> </p>

the <b>Pre-Install</b>

status log will show you the status of the pre-install. If you have
problems,
you may want to save this information to a file so you may refer to it
when you contact customer support. Click the <b>Save Log</b> button at

Logo testing..." In this case, <i>Microchip Development Tool</i> will
be
"Microchip MPLAB ICE 2000 USB Converter".</font></font></font> <br>
      <font face="timesroman"><font color="#000000"><font size="-1">If
this
happens, click "Continue Anyway" each time.</font></font></font> </p>
      <p><font face="timesroman"><font color="#000000"><font size="-1">Click
the <b>Close</b>
button on the preinstaller/updater utility when done.</font></font></font></p>

one end of the USB cable to the converter and the other end to the PC.
Do not connect the converter to the MPLAB ICE 2000 at this time.</font></font></font>

sure it has
a power supply and is powered or this procedure will not work.</font></p>

service pack 2, the first time a new USB device is plugged into a
Windows
XP system, this dialog box will appear indicating that the system has
found
a new hardware device and asking you whether or not to search for
update
software. Select "No, not this time".&nbsp; Click "Next" and continue
with
the steps below.</font></font></font></p>

time a new USB device is plugged in, a small dialog box will appear
indicating
that the system has found a new hardware device. There also may be a
dialog
box that informs the user that a device data base is being built or
updated.</font></font></font> </p>

these
dialogs appear, the Found New Hardware Wizard dialog box&nbsp; is
displayed.
Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click
"Next"
to continue the installation.</font></font></font> </p>
      <p><font face="timesroman"><font color="#000000"><font size="-1"><b>Note:</b>
If you are running <b>Windows 2000</b>, you may not see this or the
next
dialog. Instead, the system will automatically install the software
without
asking you. This is OK. Proceed to Step 8.</font></font></font></p>

"Completing
the Found New Hardware Wizard" will appear once the Microchip MPLAB ICE
2000 USB Converter has been installed. Click "Finish" to end USB
